Gift for a Friend - 07

Me and one of my friends, S, we have been preparing a card from past few days; one piece of it at a time. Every time we looked at the card, we felt, something is still missing. It doesn't look complete. And we get many other ideas and every day we used to implement one idea on the card. Initially, when we were planning we came up with an idea, to prepare a big heart with quilled scrolls. Later we thought we would make “I ♥ U”. The letter I and U we would make with just quilled strip borders. So, we started work on the ♥ part. I made the border for it and left for the day.

Next when I came S had added D and M to it (my hubby's and mine), instead of D and A. So, we had some argument on it. And then I decided to cut the heart out. And I did and in the process the border was also into pieces. So, I removed the strips. I pasted anther border on the edges of the vacant heart on the card. I took a Red handmade shining paper. Cut a bigger heart and pasted on the back of the card to cover the heart. Now, the blue heart turned into Red and it looked gorgeous.

Then S and I started making small and big quilled hearts to fill the Red heart. It looked even better with the quilled hearts. Then we thought whether to do the ‘I’ and ‘U’ in quilled borders. S left for break that day and in the mean time I prepared a fringed flower. Then I thought for a while where to place the flower now.

In the mean time thinking about that I punched some flowers from my organization’s magazine. All brand colors. The prepared some branches with the multi-color leaves. It looked very nice. I arranged in with the flower and WOW... I got my idea. I arranged the flower on the top of the longest branch and it looked like ‘I’. That's it. I got my ‘I’ and ‘♥’. Now about ‘U’ I could not get any clue. I waited for S. In the mean time I cut out a blue butterfly from the magazine; added some golden and silver glitter spots to it. I pasted the branches and the flower and waited for S to return.

When he returned I showed him and asked him to guess. Alas! He couldn't guess. I told him about the ‘I’ part. Then he could visualize. I showed him the butterfly and asked him where to place it. And he just placed it in the right side of the heart. And WOW... We got our ‘U’. He showed me a white strip on the butterfly's photo. It looks like ‘U’. And yeah we pasted everything in the right place. And the “I ♥ U” looked. However, still we felt the space of the card is not looking rightfully used.

Next I took out two punch letters, A and D. Initially we thought to place in the blank space available. But no, it was looking messy. Thus, we placed the letters on the backside Red color heart. It looked great.
We thought for a while, then started working on the inside page where one will write the message. We punched out a chain of hearts, cutting a beautiful border. We used the border inside and used some colored tiny hearts to decorate the page. I had the punched out hearts from the border. And I started throwing those on the card. And it looked beautiful on the blue background. So, we arranged a chain of heart starting from the butterfly, moving upwards in twist and turn shape. WOW, the card looked great. Thus, we glued everything and yes, we got a nice and beautiful card.

S prepared a frame to cover the quilled card. It looked gorgeous with the violet patterned color printed paper. I don't have the picture of it as of now.

We gave the card yesterday to A for she would present it to D on his birthday. She was really impressed and was very happy. She looks beautiful when she smiles; I hope D always tells it to her. Anyway, the “I ♥ U” project is complete. So, I am moving to my next exploration with colors.

My New Project - Greeting Cards

It’s been very long since I have posted something of my own thoughts. Well, I have been busy with some other project. And even now I am busy. I have been preparing cards for my friends and colleagues for them to present it to some of their close friends/relatives/colleagues. Whoever has received card from me is really very impressed with the work done.

I started seriously enhancing my card making skills in Hyderabad. I would not have done that if I would not have visited the Himalaya Book Store, near to Punjagutta Petrol Bunk, Hyderabad. It has a good collection of designer hand-made papers, gift items, colors, glitters etc. Thus, I got my water color box and some A1 chart papers initially. I started drawing, sketching and painting. I enjoyed it. However, once I saw some hand-made papers with my room-mate P. I asked her where did she get those papers and she said, that nearby shop only has that. And that night I thought of exploring the shop. And yeah I found the whole range. I got some beautiful ones and started making cards for others and for my friends. I enjoyed making those cards.

The posting about the Valentine Card is one of the creations of that time. I have created many. Unfortunately, I did not have a camera at that time and thus I don't have the pictures now. But yeah they were really gentle, sober designer cards. I hope to visit those friends sometime, and hopefully they have the card yet, so I can click some snaps. Anyway, I can create those at anytime.

But yeah the sad part is in Bangalore the shops are a bit far away from my place and they don't have good collection also. So, I have very limited resources to explore my imagination with.

I have a dream and a plan to go to market with the cards I make. I hope you all would support me for the same. I would definitely update you on the date when I would go live.

Gift for a Friend - 05

Here's a greeting card with snow white on the front page. I created for a hostel mate who presented it to her sister. Fortunately I had this snow white picture with me. So, thought of drawing it on a design paper. It's may not so attractive but I like the expression caught in the drawing.

Gift for a Friend - 04

This sketch is the one that I gave to one of my of my friends during my Engineering college days. It was presented to him on his birthday. I liked it so much that I thought of scanning it before I give it to him. I had a greeting card, I guess Archies greeting card with this picture in it. I drew this in the year 2002-3, I guess.

Anyway, here's the sketch:
I can't believe that it used to come up so well in those days.

I had presented to so many to so many people but the idea of scanning had never come. Otherwise I would have all the beautiful drawings I had done, which unfortunately doesn't come up so well now.

After scanning that I have colored it using Flash software and added some features to it like twinkling stars etc. Here's the colored version of it:

Hope you like it.

Gift for a Friend - 03

This is a greeting card that I had prepared for my hostel mate. And she presented it to her husband on their first valentine day after their marriage. She had provided me the designer papers and the printouts of the pictures. She also had brought the print out of the quotes. We used the smaller piece of printout as it is. However, we drew the other picture on a butter paper.  The greeting card was prepared on 2008. It's not with me now, however, I feel great when I look at these pictures. Sometimes I become surprised about my own skills and sometimes I doubt.

Here's few snaps of the greeting card:

The photos is behind the designer cloth-paper, not pasted on it.

Picture drawn on the butter paper; A boy and girl are sitting on the edge of the boat, near the shore. There is a tree near by. The mountains are at distant and birds are flying on the sky. The girl is smiling keeping her head low. And the guy is sitting quite and is very shy too.

I did not wanted to ruin its beauty. I can't create the clone of this picture, so preferred to use it as it is.

There is no meaning of Sea without Water,
There is no meaning of Day without Sun,
There is no meaning of Night without Moon,
There is no meaning of me without you...
                                                             Sweetheart! I Love You.

The picture is behind the ring of heart  and not pasted on it. The middle part of the heart is used else-where. I think you must have guessed by now. If not yet, then I would disclose it in the next photo...

The bigger heart is the one taken from the ring of heart. I used it on the envelop. The envelop is also my company's. Thus, to hide the header I used the heart. And the Greeting card also fitted into the envelop. B is my friend's name and T is her husband's. There's a beautiful quote written in the left side of the above pic. I just love this quote. It goes like this:
                            I would rather spend everyday
fighting with you, than to spend
the rest of my life without you.

This is how the card looks after everything is finalised and completed

The entire orange sheet is one piece. The three hearts are cut with proper calculations. However, for safer side we have applied a small piece of cello-tape on the common edges.

I love this card. I wish to prepare another on like this.
